and the cotton is high …

The cotton clouds are high indeed, alternating with periods of crystal clear skies.

When the first real blasts of summer heat come, everyone looks for a cool spot to relax.  In the Northwest, one of our favorite places is Schweitzer Mountain in Idaho.  Oh, we’ll return here many times this summer … but here’s our first escape from the summer heat.

First things ... make sure the location has a view ...

... next, admire the view and decompress!

Yes, it’s way cooler than down in the valley!  Cool enough to take a walk in the afternoon sun.  But first,

... a little fresh salad with a little chicken ...
… a little fresh salad with a little chicken …

… and then off to find cooler places.

Even though summer rages, the mountains stay cool.

This is how we keep the summer heat at bay … how do you do it?

And the view continues to fill with wonder and delight.

Camping is free in the summer here.  No hookups, but on the weekends there’s often some event going on.  Later we’ll come again for the Huckleberry Festival here … lots of tasty delights, and the lifts will be in operation to take us to the very top.  See ya then …
