Just a few miles east, and Tortuga is looking uplake to the Green Monarch mountains. Cool name.
Very deep waters and high snow dusted mountains. Home to moose, bears, bald and golden eagles, bighorn sheep, cougars and wolves … magnificent and awe-inspiring (at least to this tortuga).
The lake is equipped for the hardy boater, anxious to pluck a walleye, perch or trout for dinner. My driver spoke to one who had a successful outing on this quiet day.
But for us, today is for contemplating and considering. Alfred Joyce Kilmer said it well:
Some call it heaven.
Some call it home.
What a magical place, love the poem too.
A place hidden away. Down-to-earth, out-of-sight, unaffected.
