Way up north and west in Washington State weaves the North Cascades Highway. It runs across the top of the state … from the Pacific Ocean through mountains, alongside rivers, amongst deep forests and through a bunch of picturesque towns and villages. We spent some time on part of it. … from just north of Malott to Concrete, over by Sauk Mountain.

The midpoint of this adventure is Diablo Lake pictured as the main post pic with its turquoise waters nestled in the mountains. And close by (above), endless forests.
Uncountable trail heads, campgrounds, stunning views.

Villages and towns with names like Early Winters, Twisp, and Concrete.

Rivers and creeks nearby to lull a body to sleep.

Evening approaches and it’s time to give thanks.

Ahhh … but one more thing. Tortuga picks one (of many) memorable taste treats on this adventure.

Lemon custard … a double scoop.
Phenomenal!
Looks very good. The custard looked good too.
