Consider “The Dust of Snow”, Robert Frost. Originally published as “A Favor” in December 1920. 105 years ago:
The way a crow
Shook down on me
The dust of snow
From a hemlock tree
Has given my heart
A change of mood
And saved some part
Of a day I had rued.
From the foreboding thoughts of a hemlock tree to watching deer grazing in the winter chill,

to remembering a short stint in the warmth of the southwest,

this winter has “saved some part of a rueful day.” Northern Lights for many nights!

Peaceful campsites.

Pondering the long long shadows of the setting winter sun.

Of course, desserts served on a special plate made by the hand of a charming 6 year old.

A favored winter indeed!
