Horse Heaven Hills

There is a place called the Horse Heaven Hills! Bands of wild horses once roamed here.

This high hilly ridge rises between the great Columbia River and the fertile Yakima River Valley … now best known for excellent vineyards.

Above, Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are soon ready. Horse Heaven AVA … American Viticultural Area … received the 100 point rating by Robert Parker’s “The Wine Advocate”. It’s the only non-California wine to do so.

Majestic, rustic, fertile lands… and very close to the scenic Columbia Gorge on one side and farming communities on the other. A peaceful area to relax and contemplate.

Looking out the window …

… where the hills climb to 4000+ feet (1300+ meters). Semi arid grasslands, sparsely populated and largely treeless, and once home to a diverse group of animals, it’s now a quiet land.

Check it out …
