Travels with Tortuga

Sixty-one years ago, novelist John Steinbeck published “Travels with Charley”. It is a terrific story!

And it has lasting influence: many have taken up the notion of living-on-the-road … spurred onward by “Travels with Charley”.

And much has changed in 61 years … and much has not. A great cup of coffee, roasted fresh, has not changed much (below in San Francisco).

A breakfast London Fog (below in Kelowna BC) is a new invention. A nice change.

Strangers haven’t changed. They said: “go down this road … “

… and we did …

… and found a stunning place to boondock!

There are great and wonderful things all around us.

Steinbeck was concerned about our future. Sixty-one years ago.

Tortuga is not.

  1. I had to look up London Fog as I hadn’t heard of it before despite its having been invented thirty years ago (according to Wiki). I love a cup of tea (mainly Assam with boiling water and a drop of cold milk) – I wonder what I’d think of a London Fog?!
What a glorious river you discovered!

    1. Invented in Vancouver BC too … just up the road from that river! Often, it’s served with lavender flavoring instead of vanilla. Delicious either way!! Thanks for your research … I hadn’t looked it up!!

A cup of Assam tea with a spot of cold local farm milk sounds amazing too! I’ll be trying that soon!!!
