Well, all of that is around Bonneville Dam … actually a couple of powerhouses and locks that cross the Columbia River. Lots of power … amazing beauty.

And, as usual, everything we see is a private showing. Very few people are out-and-about. It IS cold … any water on the paths has turned to ice … and it takes a careful step to stay upright. Oops … oh, it’s OK.

Check the green, green mosses and lichens growing in the winter.

A brisk breeze surrounds us, and there’s lots of ice all around … but a steaming cup of hot chocolate brings a smile from deep inside. This well photographed site is amazingly accessible, and a must stop.

… and there’s yet more to enjoy.
Looked like you own private paradise! I’ve done many hikes there, thank you for sharing!
very nice. i look froward to vacation along the columbia on the washington side. have you done that route?
Yes … it is a stunning trip. I’ll bet there are some great places to camp too, but we haven’t done that yet! Sounds like a another road trip!!!
