Winter and Coincidence

Winter has arrived …

Yes it has.  Time to play.  We know the routine … head out to the woods, enjoy the view, thank the Lord!  Yay!!

… air down the tires …
… caravan up the hills …
… wonder at it all …

Ahhh.  Now it’s time to look for a challenge.  There’s one ->

Just drive straight on up, right?

A little icy, a little damp, but let’s go.  Who wants to go first??????

First one up!!
Lunchtime at the top.

It’s impossible to describe the view.  But, we all know how winter is – conditions can change rapidly.

Gettin’ a little foggy …
… and the path is icy and slick.
Old mining structures dot the hills.

We took a side path … one not well-known.  That can be a recipe for disaster …

Oops … a little too slick, a little too narrow …

… and a little too much air in the tires.  Should’ve gone down to 8-10 lbs – but it’s too late now.  Tug, push, tow – all to no avail.  The rig with the winch is stuck down the hill, and all we do is drift further.

Now it’s coincidence time!  As our group is working this out, up comes another group from the Jeep club.  Just on time too.  They’ve not gone down this trail before, but they are the experts in being able to see solutions.  Just happen to be there.  Nice, huh?  Well, some of us just don’t believe in coincidences – so a little prayer of thanks goes up!

Hey, just drive down …

With a slightly longer wheelbase, we probably won’t tip over.  Sweet – so off we go.  Absolutely great ride!

Then it’s time to head down the mountain ridge …
And the view just gets better and better.
Nice ride …

Now, ya’all can take the road, or go over the rocks.  We’ll take the rocks, thanks …

No problem …
… looking a little tight up there …
… but always a joy once you’re through.

Winter is stunningly beautiful.  The woods are “lovely dark and deep.”

This says it all.
