Canyonlands National Park

More stunningly beautiful country full of mesas, buttes, and canyons … with the Colorado and Green rivers slicing through. Amazing vistas, superb 4×4 roads, and hiking galore! All this in the “Islands in the Sky” section, which is 1 of 4 different areas. Not all the areas are easily accessible … but this one is.

This is what you see at the entrance to the park.

See that little road down there? From here you can drive it (4×4 recommended) as it winds down the cliff-side. Rocky, narrow, with steep drop-offs and no edges on the road. There is no time for pictures on that road … and brakes better be real good. When you start to smell ’em, it’s time to wait awhile. Hairpin turns with no edges – a puckering experience!

Well, there are other things to see before y’all attempt that route!

Yup … the above spot was another “office with a view” afternoon. A little Tomato Beef over noodles, followed by ice water from the fridge, then a little ice cream treat. It’s good to watch other touring folks come by and wonder at what they’re seeing.

So much to see as the afternoon runs down.

From here, everything seems miniature.

And these are just the pics from the main roads. If you get a chance, don’t miss this!

However, if you’re looking for a challenge, we can recommend the road to Tusheti … in Georgia (not the state), where Polish friends just visited. Now that is a road i could skip!
