A truck camper rally is a get-together of those who use and enjoy truck campers (TCs). This was our first rally … and it’s at Glacier too! Now of course, there is work to be done – but the organizer of the event got terrific campsites that were in cell range. Electric plug ins, and killer views! Well, off we go to Montana for some work and play!

Arriving late at night, we slept like babies in the TC … plugged in, listening to the crickets. The next morning we looked around.

Lake Five Resort is welcoming, laid back, beautifully kept, and full of the services ya’all might need. Spotless too!

And the view … well, what do you think?

We arrived late, and the other TC ralliests have arranged to take the Red Bus tour. We’ll drive the Jeep to the top of Logan Pass, and see them there. The Going-to-the-Sun Road has just opened a few days ago – so we expect it to be cold up there.

Approaching Logan Pass, swirling clouds cover the mountain … and there’s snow galore!

Lots of people in shorts and t-shirts … they didn’t stay long. The lodge had no heat or electricity, only generator power for emergencies. It was cold!

Waterfalls, steps of waterfalls, narrow roads, sun/clouds and sometimes both … this trip is a visual feast!

At Lake McDonald Lodge, a few of the 22 rigs awaited the return of those intrepid souls on the Red Bus.

This is a rally after all, so potluck in the evening. With the weather looking a little threatening, the food moved under cover.

Oh my … meats, chicken, pastas, slads, desserts all kinds … and that’s just to start! Fantastic recipes – everyone went back for 2nds and 3rds … we couldn’t stop! Then, of course, drawings and prizes for everyone – that’s right – everyone. We ate, we laughed, we played! The skies opened, and it rained – no, it poured – no it stormed big time. That’s OK, because we ate!
In the morning, breakfast was ready too.

There are so many to thank for this effort … check out rv.net to see all the folk who put this together. We met great people from all over the country … this was an amazing experience. Well, we have to work, and return through Montana and Idaho to the ‘ole home base. Rich suggested a different route back, and we followed his advice. Great advice it was!

Looking forward to the next TC Rally. Mixing a little work and play is a good thing … and a truck camper is a great thing.
Looks like a good time was had by all, hopefully I’ll be visiting this area and the road will still be open this september :).
Thanks for the blog and the pictures. Wish we could have made the trip. I’m glad everyone had a good time, especially XNORP and his wife who were touched by the Cold man.
